Day 1: Bagdogra to Glenburn Tea Estate
On arrival, be transferred to Glenburn Tea Estate, a delightful plantation retreat on a hilltop above the River Rungeet in the eastern Himalayas. Hometo generations of tea planters, the Glenburn Tea Estate was originally established in 1860 and remains today a working tea estate owned and run by the Prakash family.
The historic estate bungalow has been stylishly restored and decorated with wonderfully cosy guest rooms each with unique features, including a four-poster bed, large rain shower and hand embroidered bed linens.Meals are a highlight with delicious fresh ingredients and home-style cooking. Sample a range of cuisine, from local and traditional Indian dishes, to exotic South East Asian delicacies and a variety of European dishes. Stay the next three nights at Glenburn Tea Estate. Dinner included.
Day 2: Glenburn Tea Estate
After breakfast, explore the beautiful estate with its acres of tea fields and private forests, and enjoy the breathtaking mountain scenery and serenity. Wander through a local village and end the morning with a visit to the tea factory. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included.
Day 3: Glenburn Tea Estate
Enjoy a free day at the estate today.There is plenty to do including walking, trekking, fishing, bird watching or simply relaxing on the verandah enjoying the Himalayan views with a good book. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included.
Day 4: Glenburn Tea Estate to Darjeeling
This morning travel to the hill station of Darjeeling, located in the West Bengal Hills. Darjeeling is world famous for its tea production which dominates the landscape around the town as well as the local economy. Created by the British as a military and administrative centre to escape the heat of the plains, it retains a special ambience to this day.Visit Chowrastha, a crowded and colourful bazaar, before heading to the Himalayan institute, a centre for mountaineer training established after Tenzing Norgay climbed Everest. Afterwards, marvel at high altitude wildlife including Snow leopards, Red pandas, Tibetan wolf and yak at the Zoological Park. Overnight at Windermere Hotel (or similar). Breakfast included.
DAY 5: Darjeeling to Bagdogra
Enjoy breakfast before travelling from Darjeeling to where your journey ends. Breakfast included.
